This recipe was inherited from an Austrian girl – so it is a “correct” Linzer Torte

Time of preparation:  90 minutes Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients:
  • Flour_____250 grams
  • Almonds__100 grams
  • English Wallnuts_50grams
  • Cinnamon_1 teaspoon
  • Cloves___1/2 of a teaspoon
  • Sugar____ 3 tablespoons
  • Zest of a lemon
  • Butter____200 grams
  • Egg______1
  • Red current jam_300 grams*
*I used blackberry jam

1.     Grind nuts in flour.
2.     Mix flour with nuts, zest, cinnamon and cloves. Add diced cold butter and cut into dough crumbles. Add an egg and mix the dough. Form a ball and put in the fridge for an hour.
3.     Grease a baking dish with butter. Roll out the dough and put in the dish, cut off extras. Put jam on the dough; from the remaining dough make stripes and decorate the cake.
4.      Bake on 175C (350F) for 40 minutes.
